A Year of Projects Update - week 49

Yet another week has flown by.  It has been half term break here this week and we have got lots done. We had lots of days out - we went down to Brighton - we went to the cinema - we are going to the beach today.
WIP's
On the first, I started the Outfit Along, which you can find out more about here.  I have actually made the skirt already, but the material is very thin (in my impatience I found something I had in stash) but I like it anyway and I did my first buttonhole.
I also CO Zinone and am currently making my way through the lace back.  I am going to do a half lace back and full length.
I have also made great progress on boxy this week.  Although I had read through the pattern it wasn't until I got close to the end of the miles of stockinette that I realised that once done I was nearly there as it only has very short sleeves (as a result of the boxy shape).  So I am nearly done, just a second sleeve and neckband to go.
I haven't worked on any socks this week, so hopefully, I will get back to these this week.
I also started on a present for one of my friends, just in case she reads this I will not post it here until she has it.
FO's
The only finished items I have are not knitting.  I have my skirt (Dominique by Tilly And the Buttons), I made lots of soap this week and a cake!!

Acquisitions
Well the yarn diet went completely out the window this week and took a walk around the garden.  I went to Brighton and had to go to YAK which is probably the closest and best yarn store near to me and I bought all of this.
I had to get some LITLG yarn that I have heard so much about, a ball of zauberball and the boys picked some John Arbon dk for winter hats.  Just a sneak peak at the moment but I'm sure they will come out soon.  I also chose some more fabric from Ditto Fabrics for some more skirts.
So there you have it - my crafting week.  For more of the same, visit here.  We are soon to wind up this year and start on the next so do come and join us.

  1. I love the fabric of your skirt. I was looking at that Dominique skirt and was wondering if it's for a beginner sewer?, I mean it's been years from I sewed anything but I love the look of that skirt. You made great progress all round and you've been super busy with other projects. Oh do let me know what you think of the Life in the Long Grass, I do love it as you know :)

  2. Mmm that cake looks so delicious! We can't have sweets in the house because we have no self-control. I expect Gavin would happily have cake for dinner!

I wish I could reach through the monitor to shake all that yarn out of the bag and have a good look! What's LITLG? The red/blue/purpley one looks very interesting!

I have a soap-making kit but still haven't got around to it! I love the idea of making soap and am always so impressed by the clever shapes and combinations that I see from others.

What a lovely pattern Zinone is! So many options, too! The full lace back sounds cool, but your idea of a solid back halfway down is a nice idea too and probably more practical. Pretty colour yarn!

  3. I love the material you have for the skirt. It looks so light and cool. Your lace looks lovely as well and it will look smashing with the skirt. Can not wait to see Boxy completed. It is my favorite color. As for the yarn diet......Looks like you really needed the fiber. It looks so yummy the way it is in the bag.

  5. I always enjoy reading about your different creative endeavors, Lucy. The skirt is beautiful. Of course, I don't know how lightweight your skirt is, but I usually love lightweight fabric for a skirt because it makes it move so gracefully - and it's cool to wear in summer. I'm all about being cool and comfortable.
