A Year of Projects Update - week 9

Ok, so I didn't mean to miss two weeks!  Two weeks ago I was packing to go away and last week we were away.

You would have thought in two weeks I may have made a good bit of progress on my projects... no - virtually none!  So I will share what I have been up to.

I have done a little work on my lacy shoulders tee.

I am knitting this in Rowan Summerlite 4ply.  I am nearly to the lacy part!  I also did a couple of rounds on my skirt while we were away, but not enough to warrant a picture.

I have done a fair bit of work in the garden over the past few days.  We had some harvesting to do...

And I  created a little beachy area with the pebbles and shells the boys have collected over the years.

There has also been much weeding and mowing completed!

I signed up for the Joji fall KAL.   I was not as ambitious as previous years (I have not completed a Joji KAL yet!)  So, I signed up for her new sock pattern - Dreaming in Paris - I should be able to do that in time.

I also, having missed the rest due to timing, signed up for the colour play webinar with Stephen West on the 27th September.  I was sad to miss the rest so am really looking forward to this one.

Right now I  am enjoying sitting in glorious weather (the best in my opinion).  It was really hot as we went away, far too hot for me.  We had ok weather in Cornwall (pics to follow), and have returned  now to perfect weather, sunny, but chilly enough with the breeze to wear knits!  Hurrah - I am sat out with my Like a cloud on and it is perfect!

Otherwise, I am getting ready to go back to work properly on Thursday.  Apart from a couple of days supervising keyworkers children, this will be the first time since March.  I'm not sure how I'm feeling about it.  I'm not looking forward to having to get up and ready - I have fully embraced getting up at my leisure and getting dressed when I feel like it!  Anyway it is for the best although it will be very strange and unlike it was before.  I teach in a secondary school  (11 to 18 year olds) - the year groups are going to be in "bubbles" and the teachers will move to them.  I am lucky in that I teach mainly years 12 and 13 (17/18 year olds) so I will be fairly static.  We have no teaching this week however, just Inset and enrolment for year 12, so it will be fine.
And I  think that is it - for a post with very little crafting, it seems to have gone on a bit!  I will leave you with some pics of our holiday - have a great week.

  1. well, the stockinette part is over, so now the fun begins with your top: how are you linking the Rowan summerlite 4ply? I have some but haven't used it yet.

That beachy corner, beautiful! And what a crop!

Wishing you well for the new term, fingers crossed that it will all be alrigth!

  2. I like to create little inland beaches with shells. Yours is very nice. And I hear you about getting little crafting done on vacation. Your mind seems to go into a different mode then, and you don't want to do home related activities, at least that's my take.

  3. Our "bubbles" are called cohorts. Teachers started back last Monday, but virtually. So I actually have to go in tomorrow. Students start on Thursday. We are hybrid, so I see cohort A on Mon/Tues, cohort B on Thurs/Fri. Parents can choose to go all virtual and many parents have....so the most students I will have each day is 9......but it's going to be tough getting up and going in tomorrow, especially since my sleeping has been so bad due to menopause and other factors...last night I was up between 2:30 and 4....sigh

  4. Your lacy shoulder tee is getting to the fun part now. Your holiday looks like it was a grand time for everyone. Even the penguin looks happy to have you guys there.

  5. I love your little beachy-scape of plants and rocks. How fun. And your garden appears to be growing quite well. :) I enjoy reading about how school is to be done there amidst COVID, so feel free to share any time you like as far as I'm concerned. Here, it seems the variations of how school is happening are many and diverse. There seems to be a lot of turmoil about school starting up here in the States (at least in some areas) and I just feel for everyone in the situation. It can't be easy for anyone.

  6. Your top is going to be so nice. Your vacation sounds and looks like fun and the boys are so cute! My ideal weather is also sweater weather. We're not there yet but it has dropped some. Your harvest looks like something out of a magazine! My daughter (the teacher) is starting back this week for teachers at least. Her boys are homeschooling and it is very confusing for all involved and scary! The Dreaming in Paris socks are lovely. Who doesn't love Joji's designs? I hope you can get back on schedule and I pray you will stay safe and well!

  7. You’ve got a bumper crop of veg and your beetroots are a million times bigger than my tiddly ones. Which supplier did you get your seeds from, I used D T Brown and have been a bit disappointed considering we’ve had a pretty warm summer here. Well warm by Highland standards, we too are now able to wear knitwear so I join in your hoorah for that. Best of luck when you go back to school, I hope it’s not too weird or stressful and things go smoothly.

  8. Here in BC Canada they are calling the bubbles Pods. I know my teacher friends are very anxious how it will all work. I am so glad to be retired. Your pictures are lovely - I especially love the pebble and plant garden.

  9. KALs are something I haven't tried yet. I'm not very good at knitting on a schedule. I have my plan for the year but I've tried to factor in my knitting pace which is pretty slow. Hope you have fun.
