A Year of Projects Update - week 48

A day late!  We went to Brands Hatch yesterday, so no post.  But we are on half term now so thought I would put something up today!

Me Made May is winding up today and I will do a summary post in the week.  But here is a compilation of this last week's outfits.

I got out my skirts this week, teamed with a variety of tops.

As for progress, I have only worked on my vest this week and am now onto the body.

This is being knit in some Exmoor Zwartbles by John Arbon Textiles.

Last week, I did a class on Roosimine as part of Unravel.  I came out with this:

It was supposed to be coaster but I missed a couple of rounds and it fit nicely as a wrist warmer.  I really enjoyed this and it is actually really easy - I just need to make sure I do another before I  forget!
I also treated myself this week.  It has been tough at work and fancied a pick me up - so I treated myself to a beautiful mug.

I got this from Mary Wright Ceramics in Kent.
Whilst I  was sorting out my son's room (will explain next week) I discovered my next project.   I hope to blog about that in the week as well!
Anyway,  I hope you all have a great week.

A Year of Projects Update - week 47

It has been a fairly uneventful week.   Work has been frantic and is set to continue into next week.   For that reason I have kept up with Me Made May but not written a summary of the week.

So here is a snapshot of the week

Again in the most part it seems rather grey!

I haven't managed that much progress this week but did cast on a new project.

This is vest number 2 knit in some John Arbon Textiles Exmoor Zwartbles that I purchased a couple of weeks ago.
I also started a toile for some underwear - pattern from Sozoblog (same person who started Me Made May) and fabric is from stash.
All done bar the elastic that I  hope to add today.
Otherwise I used some money I  got for my birthday to sign up for a class at virtual Unravel today about Roosimine - a technique I have never heard of - I  shall feed back next week!
I will leave you with a picture of my new flowers from my subscription and bid you all a great week.

A Year of Projects Update - week 46

Things are really getting hectic at school at ghe moment,  so although I have kept up with Me Made May and posting on Instagram,  I have done little else in that department.  I will endeavour to do an additional post next week to summarise my findings so far!

This was my summary of last week.

There seems to be quite a colour theme going on this week!  Notice I wore my new Olive pinafore several times!

On the crafting front I had a finish (this morning actually, so this is unblocked and I will probably sew down the colar once blocked. )

Try to ignore the bare bits and messy bedroom, this was for finishing purposes only!  I will wear this with a high waisted skirt .  When it is blocked I will style it correctly.  This is the Antiquity blouse by Fabel knitwear and I love it and also loved knitting it.  It is knit from a combination of Keld fingering and Eldwick lace by Eden Cottage yarn.

I really haven't done anything else...

Oh yes, apart from bake a birthday cake for Daniel who entered double digits in the week!

And that is that!  I see no let up at school, this week and the next, but the end is in sight!

I hope everyone has a great week.

A Year of Projects Update - week 45

Another week flies by in these strange times!  I am back to work properly this week and I have been participating in Me Made May.   For anyone interested,  I blogged about week one here.

I have been in the garden this morning, so my me made item is a very old one that isn't the most polished but it fits and is comfy!

I  have also dug out a selection of items to choose from for next week.

In terms of knitting progress,  I have been continuing to plug away on my Antiquity blouse.

Body and one sleeve complete I am knitting this in Eden Cottage yarn  (Keld fingering and Keswick lace).  I hope to be nearly done by next week!

I had a couple of acquisitions come this week.  I had a lucky dip bag from Kate Selene destined to be part of my advent calendar!  And I  got some Exmoor Zwartbles from John Arbon Textiles to make a vest with.

And that is that from me this week.  I hope everyone is staying safe and has a lovely week.

Me Made May - Review of week 1

Despite work being completely manic, I have managed to keep up.with me made May this week.

So this is this week's offerings.
Have I  learned anything from this week?  Yes - I have really enjoyed wearing these.  I love the owl skirt even though I can't remember the last time I  wore it.  The grey stripey top worn with the cardigan (Quiet Stars) is actually a Coco dress that I cut the bottom off of as it was too short as a dress.  Sanctuary (the orange top) I wear a lot anyway, but it was good to wear it in different ensembles.
So there you have week one.  A success so far.  Tomorrow I  will pick out a different set of key pieces to work with next week.

A Year of Projects - week

Well that was a bit of a strange week.  Although, we have obviously taught through lockdowns before and had lessons through Zoom, I have never done it from home when everyone else is in.  It went very well and I was 'present' for almost all of my lessons.  And, of course, Daniel didn't have Covid!

It is the 2nd of May, and so, the 2nd day of Me Made May!  I posted my introduction to MMM here and my preparations and day one here

So today, I have dug out another make that I haven't worn in a while.

This is Rugged coat by Joji Locatelli and I knit it in Knit Picks City tweed to make it very affordable.

But this is a Year of Projects post, so what have I been working on this week?

Well I finished Olive!  I started off having a nightmare with the press studs (after my nightmare with putting panels around the wrong way)!

However, once I figured it out, it was great fun.  To the point that I may never do buttons on a sewn garment again!

This is a pattern in the latest Tilly and the Buttons book.

I have also made progress on the Antiquity blouse.

I am knitting this in Eden Cottage Keld fingering.   It is beautiful - cropped - but I  knew that when I started and I should be able to wear it with a high waisted skirt, which was always the idea.

I have also worked a bit on my socks when I  needed something mindless!

We have a nice long weekend here in the UK,  so I have some pork in the slow cooker and a chocolate marmalade loaf in the kitchen calling my name!!

Me Made May Week one

It's May 1st,  and with that, Me Made May begins.

During the week,  since I have been home with my son isolating,  I managed to go through my wardrobe.  I was very strict with myself and have already cleared a lot of items.  I have a few items that I will now be using as rags, a few that are picked out for altering or mending and several that I will be sending to charity.

Today I  am wearing a colourwork sweater that I have not worn for quite a while.

This is Buchanan by Kate Davies, knit in a yarn by Coldharbour Mill.

I have also sorted out a few items to wear during the week, so I don't have to think much before school!

For the last two years I have become a bit hung up by trying to wear something new each day, this year I want to focus less on wearing different items and more on different combinations of items so I can test what goes with what and indeed what I could do with having more of.

And so, that is day one.  I will report back next week, how it is all going!
