A Year of Projects Update - week 29

Things have been plodding along nicely here.  We are all getting settled back into remote learning.

I have made some progress on my garter stitch blanket.

This is very enjoyable as is just knit!  I have also decided to start the decreased as I knlh need a lap blanket for one.  I have plans for a larger one using my heavier weight yarn.
My other projects; socks, battenberg, skirt and Oare water are all coming along as well.  And all except battenburg are knit Projects that require no thought, so I am just cycling through them!
Otherwise,  I saw that Stephen West had a new collection coming out that looked interesting.  It is called painting honeycombs and is a variant of his latest slip stitch designs.  Anyway, I saw the advert on Instagram a couple of times and then succombed - he was doing an introductory webinar on Friday.  I decided I  could do with an end of the week treat and really enjoyed the last one (colourplay) so went off it and again, very mach enjoyed it.
And so, on to this week.  I think it is much of the same.  The collection comes out on Tuesday so I am very likely to purchase that and then I  will be itching to cast on something  - I am liking the look of the hat to begin with!
I hope everyone has a good week - stay safe.

  1. You had a busy week! Really brave to go for a knit blanket, this is one of the things I am thinking of doing, but can never quite muster enough courage to get started, so well done you!

  2. Stephen West has some of the most interesting designs out there. He makes sure your knitting time is fun and exciting. Knitting a blanket seems like it would take quite a bit of time. Making yours into a lap blanket is a great idea. Using a thicker yarn for a bigger blanket is quite smart. That will knit up much faster.

  3. I think a new Stephen West project will be great to run alongside your knit projects as it will give you the option of absorbing or mindless knitting when you need it. You deserve to treat yourself.

  6. Is that a hat or cowl Stephan West is holding there? It's very fun looking and I can see why you'd be itching to start it. :)

  7. Hmm, I replied earlier today but hasn't shown up yet. Sorry if this is a repeat. I'm thinking about knitting the Bubbles and Brioche shawl by Stephen West. I love his patterns. I love your stripy blanket. Looks like it will be fun to use.

  9. Garter stitch blankets are the best, all knit stitches and so mindless. I must admit I'm not a fan of Stephen West, his designs are a bit too over the top for me, though some of them do look amazing.

  10. It is amazing the creations Stephen West comes up with. I have yet to try one, but I saw a toddler sweater made with the honeycomb pattern and it is so cute that I may have to give it a try.
