A Year of Projects Update - week 47

I've been a bit busy the last two weeks - but not with crafting or documenting for Me Made May!

I did do a blog post on Me Made May yesterday  - link is here.

I have done a big of crafting.  I finished my Olive pinafore yesterday whilst watching some tutorials for the Sewing Weekender.

It is currently waiting to be pressed!
I have also put a few more rows in on the baby blanket.

But other than that,  it has just been a little bit of planning.  I have been thinking about my next sewing project and have found a couple of patterns to go with!

Last weekend we went to London for Daniel's birthday.   We saw a few sights and finished by going to see Back to the Future the musical - which was amazing!

And that is that!  I hope everyone has a great week.

Me Made May - week 3

It's now week 3 and I have to report very little during the last two weeks in the area of progress for Me Made May.  I have still been wearing me mades (as I do almost every day anyway) but there has been little documentation and apart from the beginning of the last two weeks, very little experimentation.  So I am extra determined next week to try some new combinations.

I have been very productive on the me Made front though,  by finishing an Olive pinafore today,  whilst watching the Sewing Weekender held by the Foldline website.

I love this pattern (I have made it before).  But this time I assembled it correctly (last times front pieces were round the wrong way!)  And I made it by hand, which is my preferred method nowadays.  I am really happy with it so hopefully,  I will be able to wear it a few times next week.

I finished it whilst watching the Sewing Weekender which is a weekend of Sewing videos and chat, organised by the Foldline.  I participated last year and found it so useful, wanted to have another go.

Anyway, next week I intend to make new combinations and document it!  I'm not sure I would hold my breath!

A Year of Projects Update - week 45

I haven't done a great deal of crafting this week, but we did have a long weekend,  so I managed a few things.
To begin with, I managed a couple of lessons with Stephen West on brioche.
As you can see, I have completed basic flat brioche and two colour brioche.  Stephen is such a good teacher, these were really easy to do and master.  I am going to do another today - I am up to one colour brioche in the round!
I have put in a few rows on my baby blanket and some rounds on Soorik, but not really enough for a photo.
I have also started work on my next Olive pinafore by Tilly and the Buttons.

It is of course the start of May  which means that Me Made May is underway.  I have not posted photos this week partly because that was not my main aim and partly because things happened to conspire against it!  But this nextcweek, I hope to take some photos of some new combinations.  I did do a short post to document what I have been wearing here but minus photos!  I will do better next week!
Anyhow, until next week - have a great week.

Me Made May - week one

 Mixed success this week!

I wear me Made most days anyway, so that has not changed.  My aim from this Me Made May, was to wear my me mades in different combinations and try to document them so that I remember what works.

So this week I have continued to wear me mades and I have tried some different combinations, but, I have failed to record any!  This is not the end of the world as this was never the principle objective, but I will try to do better next week.

I wore a hand sewn skirt that I love in a different combination to start with, and promptly got a greasy mark on it so only one combination was tried before it went into the wash.  This skirt I definitely need to wear more as it sits really nicely.

I also dug out some old rtw trousers at the start of the week, that I paired with a couple of different tops.

And then I finished the week digging put my first  dress by Sew Over It.

Next week I will do more of the same, but hopefully will get some photos as I go.   I have already sorted through my clothes into those that I wear regularly,  those that I will recycle or donate and those that I am going to try to find some new combinations for.

Of course, all of these are now in the wash.  So photo wise this week, I shall leave you with a pic of my latest sewing project.  This is a second Olive pinafore by Tilly and the Buttons.

Hopefully, I will finish this by the end of May.  I am hand sewing it - this is my new happy place!  It takes longer, but I love the fact that you have more control and it is more portable.

That will do for now.  I will return next week for an update and hopefully,  some photos of  new combinations.

A Year of Projects Update - week 44

We have a long weekend here in the UK and it is the 1st of May (and the start of Me Made May).

I have already sorted through my wardrobe and have a whole rail of clothes that I want to see if I am going to wear it and see if I need to alter or get rid of it.  Anyway more about that potentially tomorrow!

I have done a fair bit of knitting these past two weeks.

I made great progress on my Soorik whilst at mum and dad's.

I am about at the waist, so now only a little to go before the colourwork part.   I am knitting this in John Arbon Textiles Exmoor Zwartbles.

When we returned from m and d's I got a bit distracted!  As we had had some work done in our bathroom  I wanted to organise some of the bits in the bathroom.  I looked at buying some baskets but instead opted for using stash and making some instead.

I did look at a free pattern to start with  but then just made it up when I could see how you would do it - I knit a rectangle in garter stitch, then picked up stitches along each edge  then went round and round in garter stitch until it reached the height I wanted.   I used two yarns from stash held together to make a chunky weight.

Mecand Daniel went for a walk yesterday and saw lots of babies.

And a terrapin/turtle

We are going to go back today and see how they are all doing - these are just a short walk from our house which is amazing.

We also tried out our new pizza oven for a second time last night and this time was amazing itself.  My husband (who isn't the greatest fan of pizzas) said it was the best he had ever had!  High praise indeed!

We were at Donnington last week, but I took no pictures apart from one to let my mum know we had got there safely on Facebook as it was too noisy to ring!  We had a brilliant weekend and am really looking forward to the next one.
Anyway  that is it for this week - hope you all have a great week.
