A Year of Projects Update - week 48

I'm at the start of half term break here.  My husband and Thomas have gone off to the play off final in London and so apart from going to Tilgate with Daniel and my sister-in-law I have a day of knitting.  Hopefully, I should be able to get a bit done in the week too.  We are going to Brighton camping on Tuesday for a couple of days - can't wait for that.

FO's
I finished the test knit in the week.  As soon as it is published, I will share the finished article.

WIP's
I have made it to the striping on Breathing Space as predicted.
This is such a lovely knit, I am using Travel knitter and some sock yarn I have dyed myself.  I have now split for the sleeves and am making my way down the body.
I have also cast on some new socks for Thomas.  He decided he wanted blue, so blue he has.  I am waiting to cast on some socks for me, but am waiting for the start of the month so I can make some June socks.
I think that is it for this week - hope everyone has a lovely week and if you have one, enjoy the long weekend.

A Year of Projects Update - Week 47

Oh my gosh, the year is rushing by!  It has been a little quieter around here this week and at the end of this next week is the mid term break so I will be really taking stock during that week and start putting together my thoughts on next year of projects.  But first, this week.
FO's
Yes I have two.  Both socks.  The first is socks by Amy Meeks.  The pattern is Dobby's Hidden Sock and is a bit different as it has no pictures.  The idea is you don't know what it looks like before you knit it.  Now I didn't do it exactly as written, I lost count of the rows and I put in a different heel, and I found the pattern quite tight so I didn't do as long a leg as I would normally do.  But I do like them!  I have only added a part picture just in case others would like to knit them in the same vein - I have linked my project page so you can see the stitches if you would like.
The second FO I have is the boot socks.  I love these and the colour is brilliant.  The yarn is by The Knitting Goddess and the pattern is totally mint by Katya Frankel.
WIP's
My Breathing Space is coming along, I am nearly up to the striping.  I have not included a pic this week as it looks very much the same as before.  Hopefully by next week I will be on the striping and it will start to look interesting!
My other WIP, I cannot show you either as it is a test knit for Knitterarium.  These are another pair of socks and they are lovely, knitting up really fast.  I will show you as soon as I can.

Acquisitions
No yarn this week but very excitingly my copy of Pom Pom came.  I had seen lots of reviews that sounded very good and it didn't disappoint.  There are four or five patterns this issue that I would like to knit - so I am thinking next years list......

Anyway that is it for this week, have a lovely week.

A Year of Projects Update - Week 46

I have managed to miss another week!  We had racing last weekend and then I ran out of time, didn't even manage to catch up with everyone.

WIP's
No FO's this week, but a lot of progress has been made.
I have progressed on my boot socks, I am using a pattern called Totally Mint by Katya Frankel.  These should be completed by next week.
I have also cast on my May socks - these are Dobbys Hidden socks by Amy Meeks.  I have deliberately hidden the leg as the point of the pattern is that there are no pictures and it is a surprise.  The only slight issue is that the slip stitches have made it quite tight, but I think that blocking will help - I hope.
I have also made  little progress on Breathing Space.
Hopefully I will get the May socks completed in a few days as I have signed up to another test knit.  It is again for Knitterarium and I hope tho cast those on this weekend.  The yarn I will be using is some I got in a secret santa by Hazel knits.
So what have we been doing?  It was Daniel's birthday yesterday, so we had a football party that he loved.
Before the racing last weekend, we took a little trip down the road to Brighton.  Amy of Stranded dyeworks was doing a trunk show at YAK in Brighton (and I do like YAK anyway!)  And I picked up this little lot.  A couple of yarns from Eden Cottage to do a stripey sweater I have my eye on, the special yarn shop day yarn from West Yorkshire Spinners and three skeins from Amy.  The blue and green, the boys picked out an the orangey one is for me!
I think that is quite enough.  I have some sewing plans for the next few weeks, but I shall show you that next week, and I will be back next week.  Hope everyone's week is lovely and crafty.
