A Year of Projects Update

Well I survived!!
10 6 year olds came over yesterday and we coloured, we treasure hunted, we pinned the tail on the tick tock croc, we passed the parcel, we threw balls, we ran around being pirates and ate food.
All had a good time and my husband and I came out the other side (a large glass of wine as reward!!)
In terms of knitting I finished my wristwarmers in Mellifera sock yarn in spruce.  It's difficult to see the details in the picture as we took it last night, but they have 4 sets of cables and ropes of twisted stitches - I really like them!
The only slightly weird thing is, that they are the same length, yet on, one is shorter than the other!!  My arms must be different lengths!!

We have a few jobs to do today so I am torn between starting my project bag, having a go at knitting a purse or just continuing with my top....  Decisions!!

Hope you all have a lovely week.

A Year of Projects - WIPs

This week has whizzed by - again!
Last weekend I managed to change the keyboard on my computer - I have been working with a lack of U and J keys!!  This has made a 'year of projects update' quite difficult!!  But now feeling qute proud that I managed it and it works!!
Continued with my mitts in Mellifera yarn - I have now finished one and have cast on the second.

Also cast on for a tank style top to wear to work.  I have chosen this camisole and am also knitting it with Mellifera yarn - sport in Cherry.  That means that if I finish them both in time I can enter them into her KAL winter warmers on Ravelry.

Finally, I succombed to some Fyberspates Vivacious in deep plum as it was 10% off!!  Shouldn't have, but have just taken payment for the wedding cake I am doing in March so thought I would treat myself!

Wednesday is my 5 year olds birthday and next Saturday we will be having a party (10 5/6 year olds in the house for a pirate party).  If I survive I will be back next week to tell of it!!
Have a good week :-)

A Year of Projects Update

Another week goes by!!

I got my poncho finished and I got to wear it to the funeral (It was my mother in law that passed away).  Thank you for everyones kind comments last week - they were very much appreciated.  The last 3 weeks have been hard, but we will move on and we have have lots of good memories.
The poncho is lovely if I say so myself!!  It is beautifully warm and you can continue to do things as it is not too restrictive.  Forgive my looking half asleep in the picture, my husband took forever to take the picture!!
The pattern is lemonade from Lemons and it is knitted in Malabrigo merino worsted in cypress

Since finishing I have cast on Linda Ks Yummy Mummy Wristwarmers - I will post a link and pictures next week.  I am knitting these with Mellifera sock yarn in spruce.
For the first part of the year (and maybe the rest!) I intend to do lots of projects for me and to try lots of different techniques.  These wristwarmers have charts and not written instructions which I have not used before - so this is the new technique here.
Hope you all have a good week :-)

Well its 2014!!  Didn't post last week as we had quite a traumatic Christmas.  The boys had a brilliant time and that is all that matters.

I also cast on for the poncho along with our gathering place on ravelry, which is coming along nicely - I would like to be able to wear it to a funeral on Thursday.

On another note, I was tidying up some of the beds for next year and i found these that I had forgotten - quite a haul of parsnips which delighted my husband as he loves them!!
