A Year of Projects Update - week 48

With a month to go (how does that happen?) my attention has turned to finishing up and a new list!!
Some items will not get finished that will move to the new list, others will be deleted or replaced by others on the new one!!
For this week, I have cast on Rhombing Around.

I love this stitch pattern, it is a seersucker stitch.  Yarn is by Mellifera yarn in Blackberry that I had in stash.  The yellow is waste yarn, although it goes rather well!!
But the sweater is really on hold for a moment as I realise that as the YOP year ends it is my SIL's wedding.  Which means I have to finish the items for that!!  I have, therefore, been completing the shawl - Fragile Heart - I'm nearly there.

And I have cast on for my bag.  I am using my own pattern which I will at some point write up!

I have also been working on my next outfit along - I have made a muslin for the dress and made a couple of tweaks - luckily it fit reasonably anyway but I need a little more length in the bodice.  I will start properly on the 1st.
I have also cast on a pair of socks that I will knit to participate in the summer of socks with Rachel Coopey. These are Hector from A Knitted Sock Society in Heather by Knitting Goddess.

So a fair bit going on!!  It will slow down next week as I am back to school for the last half term - hurrah the summer is looming!
Join up with us now here as we sign up for next year.

Yarn Along - New Beginnings

Since its half term I have been able to read all the yarn along blogs from last week, so I have come back again!!
I have also been very productive!
I finished my stripey socks and wound lots of yarn for my next projects - which I blogged about here.
Since then I have also finished my Aiken - yay!

I'm not totally sure about the neck, but I need to block it so that may improve it, or I may add something.  It doesn't bother me too much so I may just leave it!

I also decided to knit a mat for the shower using up the t-shirt yarn I used for the bathmat.  I now have a set!

And so, I will cast on my Rhombing around today and I have a sock pattern from a magazine I want to try with some britsock by the Knitting Goddess.
In sewing, I have cut the paper pieces for my Megan dress and a tunic top.  I want to cut the fabric for a muslin and the top at least, this week.
I finished The Secret Life of Bees and really enjoyed it. I laughed out loud at the end and the (no spoiler) octopuses and hat!!  You'll know what I mean when you get there or if you've read it!
Now to start Me Before You by Jojo Moyes.

Year of Projects Update - 47

Its the start of the half term break so I'm hoping much knitting will be done!
I have made progress since last week on Aiken - so near yet so far!!  Hope to be done tonight - just got the right sleeve to go.

I finished my stripey socks and wore them yesterday.

These are knit in Sirdar Heart and Sole with a little left over Mellifera yarn for the heel.
Since it is the start of the half term break we went out today.  We went to an alpaca and llama farm near us.  The boys had a great time and I picked up a little alpaca yarn!

On our return I got ready for my next few projects...
The Britsock bottom left is for some socks - pattern yet to be determined.  The pink, purple and grey on the right is for Rhombing around.  And the purpley colour top left is for Vianne for the Outfit along that I will take part in again this year - more about that in a later post.

Yarn Along

I've succumbed!!
Last year I did the Outfit-A-Long with Andi Sutterlund and lladybird and loved it.  I didn't feel up to a dress at the time, so made a skirt and a Myrna.  I wasn't going to do this year as I felt I had other projects lined up.
That was until Friday when I saw the announcement for this year.
And that got me thinking...
So I'm doing it this year.  I am going to make a Megan dress from Love at First Stitch

And knit the featured Sweater Vianne by Andi.
And these are my materials
The really good thing is - in the spirit of Love Your Library, Three pieces are from stash - the material, the yarn and the dress pattern I had already.  I had to buy the sweater pattern but that was discounted as it was part of the KAL.
I am still reading The Secret Life of Bees and in honour of that I made some cakes for my students this week as they leave me to do their exams!

A Year of Projects Update - week 46

Phew, it's been a busy week!  I have made progress on the stripey socks, the photo was taken a while ago when we had some good weather.  I am currently just past the heel on this second sock.
Daniel had a birthday this week.  Why has Thomas insisted on a modelled train engine birthday cake every year, when Daniel wants bubbles (so easy)?!
So following his birthday we had a bubble party for 8 little ones in the back garden yesterday.  The weather played ball so there were many bubbles!!
I did manage to finish my bathmat in the midst of this.  Here it is in situ.  The intarsia isn't great - I think it was the nature of the very stretchy t-shirt yarn - but it is going to be fine for us.  I'm going to make a little shower mat from what I have left.
Also, it was the last week for several of my students, so I made them lots of bug cakes!!
That's it from me this week - find some more here.

A Year of Projects Update - week 45

This week seems to have flown by in a haze of busyness!  We are at Thruxton today watching another British Touring Car meet.  It is Daniel's birthday this week, and we are having a bubble party next Saturday - so it is busy, busy, busy.

Anyway, I did finish one sleeve of Aiken last week

And I have been progressing on the socks - they are further on from this picture.

I have also been making good progress with my bathmat, that I haven't really mentioned before.  I hope to have a finished photo by next week.

Yarn Along

Have had a lovely long Bank Holiday weekend - we didn't do too much but it was just nice to spend time together.

I finished Abate this week, so now have a pair!!

I'm making good progress on my stripey socks - onto the second now minus heel.

And am making my way down the second sleeve of Aiken.

I'm being really strict with myself to finish one of these before I CO another.  I really want to CO Rhombing Around, and I want to CO a vest, but not sure which one, and I want......!

I've been inspired to read a little more, as I read these blogs, so am currently reading The Secret Life of Bees - recommended from a Yarn Along blog.  The problem I have is that when I do a midweek post I like to read and comment on all the other blogs, and then I don't have enough time to read!!  I have compromised with doing a post every 2 weeks - will see how this strategy goes!!

A Year of Projects Update - week 44

We're in the middle of a lovely long bank holiday weekend here.  My husband took Thomas to London yesterday to see the football, so it was just me and the littlest boy!!  We had a lovely, but busy day as Daniel planned it to the hilt!!

I did virtually no knitting yesterday, which is unheard of.  But in the week I finished Abate - yay

Also finished the first sock - well, without the heel, but I want to do both of those together.

I also picked up the stitches for the first sleeve of Aiken, and am making my way down it!

Having finished Abate, I am desperate to CO a new project, but I must finish some WIPs first!
