Year of Projects Update - week 36

Lots of lovely progress this week, although I feel somewhat guilty as to how I managed it!!
Thomas was ill for most of the week, so my husband had him on Monday and Tuesday, but I had to be home with him on  Wednesday and Thursday.  An enforced holiday to knit!

So, I finished the aran socks last weekend.  Love them and worn them already.

I finished the commission yesterday

All ready to package for delivery.

I made progress on my Aiken - I have now finished the lace part and now am onto stockinette body.

I CO the second Abate for Thomas.

And decided I couldn't live without socks OTN (very odd for me, but I'm going with it).  I received some more needles at the start of the week so I'm attempting my first TAAT on 2 long circular needles - which has started well.  These are Phyllis by Rachel Coopey, she is running a KAL with these in her group on Ravelry.

I also completed my Coco today to wear at the wedding.  I am very pleased with it - now just need to finish the accessories.

  1. Your posts are so fun because you have so much going on and you get so much done! The superwoman of the knitting community! So sorry your son was ill but great that you HAD to stay home and knit! LOL!
Love the socks and I'm going to have to check out the KAL....I really like the red yarn you're using and I would like to try TAAT one of these days.
The Aiken is gorgeous with the pattern on the back....really lovely. Is the Abate a sweater/jumper? I forget now. I would like a sweater pattern for boys that is for little boys....everything I see seems to be for babies. But I can see Thomas is not a baby! What a cutie and I'm hoping he is better now. I used to just ache when my kids were ill...it breaks my heart to see the little ones so "unnaturally" quiet! LOL!
I adore your fingerless mitts! Is that your own pattern? They are lovely and what a different look when you use different colors. You really are such a great knitter.
The dress is so pretty...my favorite...floral fabric. If I could knit roses I would...as in pattern, not 3-dimensional. I want rose wallpaper on my walls so badly but I plan on moving so probably the next house.
I hope Thomas is feeling better. The best to you and your family.

  2. You have been busy. So sorry it was because your son was icky this week. I really like the design of the dress you made. Is that the pattern from Tilly and The Buttons? Do you always use a stretch material to make it? I am looking for a dress pattern to use to make dresses for Church but everything I find is so fitted and my body is not made for fitted anything.

  4. My goodness, you have been busy! Funny I'm just deciding amongst Rachel Coopey sock patterns for a KAL over at the Sock Sampler group on Ravelry. I'm leaning towards Arkin or Thornfield. So many beautiful patterns to choose from!

  5. ooo Aiken is going to be so pretty! I'm a little reluctant to start socks as I suspect the bug may bite me and never let go...tell me it isn't so? LOL

  6. Wow, so much progress! Aiken looks great, and I love the dress, so pretty!

I'm so intrigued by the TAAT technique. It's on my list to learn, because I suffer quite badly from 2nd sock syndrome, lol!

Oh, and I love the socks and mittens, they look so cozy!
